Based on a true story.

Set in the heart of the Darfur conflict, THE TRANSLATOR, a true story based on the Random House National Best Selling Memoir of the same name, is about a Sudanese villager whose village gets raided by the Arab Militia and runs away to neighboring Chad. While there, he teams up with an American Journalist to help expose the ongoing atrocities in Sudan to the world. They get captured, beaten and sentenced to death, but when American government intervenes, only the journalist gets released. However, he refuses to leave without his Translator. 

 

THE TRANSLATOR is a film about their bond, friendship, and the journey that they travel against the backdrop of the atrocities in Sudan.
